Hi, I'm Cam.
I was born in Lloydminster, Canada's only border city, and raised on a farm in Saskatchewan, which means I grew up understanding two very important things: how to work hard, and how to appreciate a good meal when you finally sit down.
Cooking and baking have always been part of my life. There's something about turning simple ingredients into something worth talking about that never really gets old. Over the years, that curiosity turned into a habit of trying new foods, learning new techniques, and occasionally making questionable decisions in the kitchen that somehow still worked out.
I also inherited my sense of humour from my grandfather. He had a gift for delivering perfectly timed observations with a completely straight face, and growing up around that kind of dry, deadpan wit shaped the way I tell stories today. If you've ever found yourself wondering whether I'm being serious, you have him to thank.
Alongside food, I've developed a strong appreciation for cocktails and fine spirits. Whether it's a perfectly balanced classic or something a little more experimental, I enjoy the craft, the attention to detail, and the experience that comes with a well-made drink just as much as a great meal.
More recently, I discovered a passion for writing. What started as a way to document memorable meals and experiences quickly turned into something I genuinely enjoy. This project exists because I realized I could combine the things I love: writing, photography, chasing down new culinary experiences, and exploring the world of cocktails and fine spirits, whether that means a perfectly executed dish or something that leaves me questioning my life choices in the best possible way.
Dining Unhinged is exactly what it sounds like. Honest, a little chaotic, occasionally too detailed, and always rooted in the belief that food and drink are more than just something you consume. They're experiences, stories, and sometimes a mild crisis wrapped in a plate or poured into a glass.
If you're here, you probably get it.
