Bourbon, Cynar, lemon juice, honey, egg white
This is a good whiskey sour.
Not a revolutionary one. Not one that'll have you cancelling your plans to order a second immediately. Just a genuinely well-made cocktail that knows exactly what it's trying to be.
The honey rounds off the sharper edges without turning the drink into dessert, while the Cynar quietly adds an earthy bitterness that keeps everything from becoming one-note. The egg white gives it that silky texture you'd expect, and the bourbon holds its own without trying to overpower the glass.
My only gripe is the citrus.
I kept wishing it leaned into orange instead of lemon. The honey and Cynar seem like they'd absolutely sing with a brighter, sweeter citrus, whereas the lemon leaves the finish feeling just a touch sharper than it needs to be.
